This is where I was in late December of 2017. I wanted desperately to learn watercolor, and knew that I needed REAL supplies if I wanted to improve. Practicing with sub-par materials just didn't make any sense to me. I ordered these paints, brushes and paper and the rest is history!
So, even though we have seen some significant inflation since then, I am up to the challenge to get YOU or your kids started for under $100. Let's see if I can do it!!
Paint!
3 primaries and 1 neutral:
M. Graham Ultramarine Blue $11.39
M. Graham Indian Yellow $12.42
M. Graham Alizarin Crimson $15.71
M.Graham Payne’s Gray $12.51
Paints total: $52.03
These paints will last you sooooo long! I started my Etsy commissions business and didn't have to order any more paint for almost 8 months....the first one I ran out of was Ultramarine blue. I had been painting every day for 8 months! A little goes a long way!
One pad of paper, Arches Cold pressed, 140 lb. size 9x12 $18.97
Princeton Heritage set of 4 brushes $23.99
Total: $94. 09
Things that you probably have at home:
plain white dinner plate for mixing
paper towels
2 containers for water ( in the studio I use quart canning jars, but any container can work; old yogurt or sour cream tubs, disposable cups, etc).
Masking tape (optional)
regular pencil
This is also a great gift idea! Put these materials together in a gift basket or box to create a kit that will inspire growth and development of a unique artistic voice.
