"Last year I finished a progress report meeting for my then eight-year-old and they were telling me that my son wasn't progressing anymore in reading and wanted to create an IEP for him. I left the meeting frustrated because he had been in reading intervention for multiple years now. I came across April McMurtrey online and the way she spoke about learning to read just made sense. I was fortunate enough to find Katie Harris through her list if tutors and the transformation I have seen in my son in less than a year has been amazing. Since my son has started tutoring he has gone from reading 43 words a minute to 84. His teacher and his reading intervention teacher have both said that he has made huge improvements. I know that these improvements are a direct result of the work Katie has done. I cannot express the joy of being able to see my son not struggle or cry over reading.
